Tips to keep you and your Valentine smiling this year!
- Remember to keep up your water intake. Lack of hydration can decrease the quality and quantity of saliva which often leads to a higher rate of decay and bad breath.
- Be dentally smart when giving sweet treats. Dark chocolate contains less sugar than white and milk chocolate.
- Get any outstanding treatment completed – active decay and gum inflammation don’t smell or look very romantic if left to fester for a long time.
- Brush twice a day with a soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Remember to spit out the toothpaste after brushing but not to rinse – we need the remnants of the toothpaste in your mouth to strengthen your teeth against decay.
- Floss your teeth once a day while the remnants of your toothpaste are still in your mouth – this way you’ll ensure that the strengthening agents in your toothpaste reach the surfaces between the teeth – this is the area most at risk for decay and gum problems.
- Ensure you have your routine hygiene appointment booked in to keep your teeth sparkling clean and to detect problems early.
